Plastic hoses
Flexible plastic hoses are designed to ensure maximum adaptability in systems requiring tight bends, frequent movements, or vibration absorption. Among the most common materials is silicone, which is extremely flexible and resistant to high temperatures, making it ideal for medical and food applications. PVC, on the other hand, is chosen for its cost-effectiveness and is used for the suction and transport of liquids or air at low pressure. Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) combine the flexibility of rubber with the workability of plastic, making them ideal for medical and food applications.
Alongside soft hoses, there are medium-soft or semi-rigid hoses, which represent a compromise between flexibility and rigidity. Materials such as nylon (PA6, PA11, PA12) are typical for pneumatics and medium-pressure lines, such as air brakes and fuel, due to their resistance to abrasion and chemicals. LDPE (polyethylene) is used for drinking water and chemical lines, while polyurethane (PU) is valued for its flexibility and abrasion resistance, making it ideal for pneumatic lines, robotics, and liquid transport. Finally, hard or rigid hoses such as Kynar (PVDF), Teflon (PTFE), and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) are designed for systems where flexibility is not required but high chemical resistance is required. PVDF and PTFE also have excellent temperature resistance.
